Although, their latest production venture ‘Dangal’ has managed to become one of the top grossing movies in Bollywood, having amassed a whopping figure Rs 350 crore till date, surpassing the collections of ‘Sultan’ and ‘P.K.’, the production house of Disney India is reported to be laying off 90 of its employees based in India, as a part of their cost cutting procedures.

Recently, there were reports about Disney India, owner of UTV Motiuon Pictures, winding up its Indian operations and concentrating on producing only Hollywood films. The reason for the production house’s decision was due to, the lackluster performances by some of their latest ventures like ‘Fitoor’, ‘Mohenjo Daro’, ‘Phantom’ and ‘Tamasha’, resulting into huge losses for the makers.

Several names holding top posts in Disney India were seen putting in their papers and resigning. Executives like Siddharth Roy Kapur (MD), Nikhil Gandhi (VP) and Sameer Ganpathy (Head-Interactive) have quit the company in last three months.
