National award-winning actress Vidya Balan pulled up a male fan of hers when the latter put his arm around her shoulder while attempted to take a ‘selfie’ with her.
Kerala-born Vidya has carved out niche for herself in Bollywood with her power-packed performances over the past few years. She won the national award for best actress for effectively and convincingly portraying the late ‘Silk’ Smitha in the 2011 Bollywood film The Dirty Picture. She has also won several awards including the hugely popular ‘Filmfare’ awards on many occasions.
Vidya’s latest film Begum Jaan is all set to release in theatres across the country on 14th April but the theatrical trailer has already given a hint of what to expect. Vidya, who is presently busy in promoting the film, has essayed the role a ‘brothel’ madam in the film whose script is set in the late forties.
Vidya and director Srijit Kukherji and other crew members had been to Kolkata as part of the promotional activities planned to promote the film nation-wide. When they were waiting at the Airport premises to take the flight, a male fan approached Vidya, greeted her and sought her permission to take a selfie with her and there erupted a huge issue.
The fan not only stood too close to Vidya but also put his hand around her shoulder which was strongly objected to by the actress stating that actresses were only public figures and not public properties. She then refused to pose for the ‘selfie’ and quit the place!
