Newbie Sayyeshaa Saigal, the ‘latest’ toast of Kollywood heroes and directors, has said that she felt that it was indeed a ‘boon’ for having been paired up opposite a hero like ‘Jayam’ Ravi in her very first film in Kollywood.
Directed by Vijay and starring ‘Jayam’ Ravi and Sayyeshaa in the lead, Vanamagan hit the screens a couple of weeks back on 23rd June. Grand-niece of celebrated Bollywood couple Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu, Sayyeshaa (who turns 20 next month) is billed as the ‘next big thing’ in Kollywood.
Even before the release of her debut film in Tamil, Sayyeshaa signed up to star in her second Tamil film Karuppu Raja Vellai Raja directed by Prabhu Deva and which stars Vishal and Karthi together for the first time. “Though I’m a Mumbaikar by birth, I wanted to make my debut first in Kollywood; however, it happened only after I starred in a Telugu film. I feel it’s indeed a boon to be starring opposite Ravi in my first film.
“I worked with Prabhu Deva who choreographed a song in Vanamagan and am working with him again as he is the director of my next film. I’m sure I’d do my best to prove his confidence in me,” she said.
On another note, she appealed to the press not to compare her with Hansika or any other actress. “Each individual is different; nobody can take others’ place. Let me be myself with my own space,” Sayyeshaa says.
