Actress Keerthy Suresh, who is essaying the role of late and legendary actress Savitri in her upcoming biopic titled after her name, is said to be kept away from cell-phone by the director who wants her to concentrate on her character sans disturbance.
Made in Tamil and Telugu as bilingual and titled tentatively as Mahanadhi, the film has Keerthy stepping into the shoes of Savitri, considered as an actress par excellence and who was given the title of ‘Nadigaiyar Thilagam’ (‘Crown among Actrsses’).
In her heydays during the fifties and sixties, the amazingly talnted and beautiful Savitri starred opposite the triumvirate of top heroes in MGR, Sivaji Ganesan & Gemini Ganesan (married him later) in many films.
It turns out that callers found Keerthy Suresh’s mobile-phone ‘switched off’ for many days. Worried about her safety, they got in touch with Menaka (remember Rajini’s heroine in the song Raamanin Mohanam from Netri Kann?), actress-mother of Keerthy Suresh, who told them that her daughter was perfectly safe and that she had purposely switched off her mobile to concentrate better on her character of Savitri!
