It is rumorued that the script of Vijay’s upcoming film, which would be directed by Atlee Kumar and which has been tentatively titled as Theri 2, would be based ‘heavily’ on superstar Rajinikanth’s super-duper hit film Annamalai which released in 1992.
Vijay and Atlee worked together for the first time in last year’s Theri which was clearly ‘based’ on Vijayakanth’s super-hit film Chatriyan which released more than 20 years back. It may be recalled that Atlee’s 2013 debut directorial venture Raja Rani, which courted huge success at the box-office and starred Arya, Nayantara, Jai and Nazriya in the lead, was based loosely on Mani Ratnam’s romantic hit film Mouna Ragam.
Old habits die hard and it appears that Atlee has decided to ‘re-work’ on the script of Rajini’s Annamalai instead of flexing the muscles in his brain to look for a new script. Samantha, Kajal Aggarwal, Jyothika, Kovai Sarala, S.J. Suryah, Sathyan and Vadivelu would be essaying major roles in the film, it is reliably learnt.
Vijay would be seen porting a full-fledged beard in the film whose shoot is to commence in Madurai tomorrow (01st February). A.R. Rahman would be scoring the film’s music.
