Pa. Ranjith, director of superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Kaala Karikaalan and who also made Rajini’s Kabali, a colossal hit film which released last year, has urged the producer of Mersal not to submit to BJP’s pressure tactics and delete sequences in the film containing dialogues against GST, demonetization drive and ‘Digital India’.

Vijay’s fans and movie-goers have praised the film for its clear-cut message on corruption in the field of medicine. The dialogues of the film, which breathe fire as per critics’ accounts, have not been taken kindly to by the regional and national level leaders of the ruling BJP at the Centre who have given a deadline of two days to the film’s crew to either delete those sequences of face trouble at all the halls/theatres.

Tamilisai Soundararajan, State BJP chief and Union Road Transport Minister Pon Radhakrishnan besides the party’s Rajya Sabha M.P. Ila Ganesan have been highly critical of the film’s content in general and some sequences in particular. Buckling under obvious pressure, the film’s makers have announced their decision to delete certain sequences.

Speaking to newsmen in Madurai about the controversy, Ranjith said that the dialogues need not be deleted from the film. “They only reflect people’s thoughts; people have applauded the sequences in theatres. The producer shouldn’t give in to pressure,” he said and added that the BJP’s designs of demolishing Dr. Ambedkar’s philosophies would never succeed.

On another note, he revealed that Kaala would release in theatres worldwide on Tamil New Year next year (April, 2018).
