Comedian Santhanam, who is determined only to play the lead roles in films from now onwards, has been paired up opposite a hot newcomer in his upcoming film to be directed by Selvaraghavan, who had directed national award-winning actor and his younger brother in quite a few films in the past.
Titled as Mannavan Vandhanadi, the film has the picture-perfect Marthi actress Aditi Pohankar debuting as heroine in Tamil films. The film would be a romantic venture in typical Selvaraghavan-style and won’t be a comic venture. Santhanam had never worked in any of Selvaraghavan’s earlier films and would be working with the mercurial director for the first time.
Inside sources say that the film would be as romantic as Selvaraghavan’s earlier hit film 7G Rainbow Colony. Santhanam, who had starred with ‘milky beauty’ Tamannaah in many films as a comedian, reportedly recommended to the director to cast her as his heroine but the fee demanded by Tamannaah made the director look elsewhere. It is said that Amala Paul was also approached but she refused the offer.
After a huge effort, the makers toped in Aditi to pair up opposite Santhanam. A popular stage artiste, Aditi has also made her debut as actress in Hindi films. The film’s shoot commenced in November and has been proceeding briskly. A major plus of the film is that it has music by ‘Junior Maestro’ Yuvan Shankar Raja.
