It was reported in these columns some time back that actress Vijayalakshmi of Chennai 600028 and Anjathay fame is turning producer with an upcoming film titled as Pandigai. The actress-producer now says she would be concentrating more in producing films than in acting in films.
One of the three daughters of director Agathiyan, who won the national award for ‘best director’ for his Ajith Kumar-Devayani starrer Kaadhal Kottai, Vijayalakshmi starred as heroine in a few films and was also spotted in Venkat Prabhu’s latest hit film Chennai 600028 II which released in theatres last December.
She has named her production house as ‘Tea Time Talkies’ and cast Kreshna and ‘Kayal’ Anandhi in lead roles. Saravanan of Paruthiveeran fame plays a major role in the film which has music by Vikram. The crew met the press at a meet-the-press event held in the city ahead of the film’s theatrical release this Friday (07th July). Debutant Feroz has directed the film.
“I didn’t face any opposition from my family when I decided to act in films a decade back. However, when I told them that I wanted to produce films, I was restrained by some family members who advised me to think twice. Kreshna is a good friend who has done good work in the film; all technicians and crew members have given their best. I plan to continue to produce many films,” Vijayalakshmi says.
